One of the big stories out of Arsenal's 4-2 victory over Bolton was William Gallas's tackle on Martin Davies. Bolton Manager, Owen Coyle, dubbed it initially as "an assault." Here are Arsene Wenger's thoughts:
While I don't think the tackle, however bad it may have been, deserved the criticism it got, I think that Wenger's reasoning doesn't really hold suit. Kicking someone in football is a foul. To justify the kicking by saying other teams kick us is not correct. Yes it raises an issue here, and it is a completely valid one. However, in both cases, they are fouls and should be called and treated the same. Unfortunately, that is not the case.
